About Lily
Writing for Social Change
Lily Levine is an LA-born writer living in New York. In June, she graduated cum laude from the University of Chicago with a BA in Global Studies with honors, a minor in Health and Society, and an advanced proficiency certification in Spanish. Inspired by her personal and academic experiences, she brings a socially and environmentally-conscious lens to her writing.
Most recently, Lily was a contributor for the South Side Weekly, where she covered issues of health, education, and environmental justice as they pertained to the South Side community. She was awarded the 2021 Peter Lisagor Award for Best Education Reporting in Newspaper or Magazine in Non-Daily Newspaper for her article, “CPS Layoffs Shock Teachers.”
Previously, Lily was the Managing Editor for UChicago’s College Editorial Team, where she oversaw a passionate group of undergraduates dedicated to writing website features and creating social media content that showcased student accomplishments, student life, and student activities and programming across campus. In the past, she has conducted interviews with top creatives for Milk Agency, as well as contributed to Bite Magazine, the UChicago Moda blog, and Thrive Global’s “Thrive on Campus” section.
In her free time, you can find Lily spending time with friends, exploring local farmers markets, or training for the NY marathon.
